About the Opportunity

The Technical Discipline Lead – Project Management is a pivotal role responsible for developing and deploying skilled project management professionals to meet program work scopes. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Project Management Capability, you will ensure the right people, skills, and systems are in place to support ASC’s strategic goals and contractual deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Define workforce capability design and standards, including necessary competence, experience, and qualifications.
  • Develop and implement training and development plans to address gaps and ensure continuous professional growth.
  • Act as a central point for recruitment and allocation of Project Management staff, ensuring professional advancement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand future capability demands and plan accordingly.
  • Maintain awareness of best practices and advances in project management to support business improvement.
  • Drive the development of processes, tools, and knowledge to maintain international standard performance levels.
  • Facilitate and establish mentor relationships within the Project Management discipline.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a technical or project management discipline, or equivalent experience in systems engineering, naval construction, or complex asset management.
  • Eligibility for AIPM membership, ideally with accreditation at AIPM CPPD/CPPE level.
  • Experience in a leadership role in project management, engineering, or capability leadership, preferably in a similar industry.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of project delivery best practices, including scheduling, earned value management, risk management, quality management, and stakeholder management.
  • Significant experience as a Project Manager in a complex project environment.
  • Experience in coaching and assessing competencies of job families, with a diploma or higher qualifications in Project Management.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
