AI Hackathon for Defence: Empowering the Defence Ecosystem with AI

In partnership with Telstra and UBH Group, this hands-on event will bring together leaders in the defence industry, defence, and developers to create innovative AI solutions to help improve productivity and effectiveness. Using Microsoft AI technologies like Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Studio, Azure AI Foundry and more, participants will work in teams to develop AI solutions and find practical applications of AI to enhance operational efficiencies. Some examples of how AI can be used are:

• RFI Evaluation: evaluation of tender responses to RFIs
• Policy Evaluation and Development: evaluate, identify gaps, and propose solutions
• Project Management: AI Assistant that handles project management and reporting
• ICT Systems for DISP/IRAP Accreditation: helps organisations prepare for accreditation audits

Day 1 – AI Presentation & Team Formation (Tuesday, 9th September)

• 0900 – 1100: Welcome & AI Keynote
  The morning session is open to hackathon participants and limited defence leaders and defence industry (not participating in tracks). Morning session will include an AI Overview of Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Studio, Azure AI Foundry
• 1100: Break
• 1115: Track Breakouts
  Participants split into:
  • Business User track
  • Azure AI Developer track (must have prior coding experience to participate in the Developer track)
• 1200: Lunch
• 1300 – 1530: Project Team Work
• 1600: Day 1 Wrap-Up

Day 2 – Build & Collaborate (Wednesday, 10th September)

• 0930 – 1230: Project Team Work
• 1230: Lunch
• 1330 – 1530: Project Team Work
• 1600: Day 2 Wrap-Up

Day 3 – Present & Celebrate (Thursday, 11th September)

• 0930 – 1230: Team Presentations preparation of AI use cases
