Based at Stone & Chalk’s Startup Hub a growing number of startups are celebrating big wins across FinTech, RegTech, Food-tech and more.
Startups play a critical role in activating innovation places like Lot Fourteen, bringing fresh ideas, agility, and entrepreneurial energy that catalyse collaboration, attract investment, and accelerate the development of high-value industries.
They not only drive commercial outcomes but also contribute to South Australia’s economic complexity. Here’s what’s been happening at the Startup Hub recently:
Space Protocol
Space Protocol was recently invited to showcase at the Parliamentary Innovation Showcase organised by the Tech Council of Australia, where cofounder and CEO, Samya Bagchi, was invited to deliver a technical deep-dive panel talk before MPs and the nation’s top policymakers.
Space Protocol is an Australian-based blockchain initiative powering a trustless, decentralized operating system for space operations. It enables satellites to autonomously sense, share, and react—delivering real-time risk quantification, orbital compliance, and cross-verified space intelligence.
Turning satellites into 3D autonomous vehicles is essential for the survival of the emerging trillion-dollar space economy in an increasingly contested and congested domain, and Space Protocol’s platform makes this possible. In this environment, where adversaries may gain access to future quantum computing capabilities, ensuring the blockchain is resilient to quantum attacks is critical to maintaining long-term trust and security in satellite coordination.
Founded by Bagchi and Dr. Yasir Latif, who hail from the Australian Institute for Machine Learning, the team work closely with the US Space Systems Command’s SDA TAP Lab and provide an essential safeguard as space infrastructure becomes a backbone of global security and commerce.
Chefadora
Lot Fourteen is now home to an exciting new culinary tech player: Chefadora, home to the world’s first AI-powered cooking assistant that’s transforming kitchens – and now, milestone-breaking growth.
Just last month, Chefadora celebrated a major milestone: 100,000 users from 180 countries. In a recent Ticker News interview, co-founder Sanjam Kohli described the past month of growth as “wild” thanking their growing community for its enthusiasm and support.
Kohli also shared how Chefadora offers real-time cooking support: users simply ask AI for help if they are stuck on a step, or need to swap an ingredient, and get instant and personalised guidance on what to do next. It’s a lifeline when recipes go sideways midway through. A true “AI sous-chef” in your pocket.
But, this tenant tech isn’t just a digital cookbook – it’s an inclusive, creator-first platform. Aspiring chefs and home cooks can upload and optimise their recipes effortlessly, earn ad revenue, and share culinary heritage from diverse backgrounds.
The platform also plans to support over 80 languages, expanding its global reach.
Based at Lot Fourteen, Chefadora is an Adelaide-built startup with global ambition, reinforcing the innovation district’s reputation as a hub for tech, innovation, and culture.

ROOO
Startup ROOO isn’t just redefining ridesharing, it’s spearheading a driver-first movement in South Australia, and now our Lot Fourteen community has even more reason to celebrate them.
Last month, the Adelaide-based platform was crowned the winner of the Bright Idea Award at the Venture Dorm 2025 Finals, hosted by Flinders University’s New Venture Institute. Over the preceding eight weeks, the ROOO team immersed itself in sharpening its pitch, refining its Business Model Canvas, and embraced new storytelling techniques – growing stronger with mentorship and expert guidance.
So, what sets ROOO apart? Its rideshare model was built by local drivers for the local community. ROOO rejects hefty commission fees – instead, drivers pay a simple flat subscription and keep more of their hard-earned earnings. Riders benefit too, with fair pricing, reliable service, and genuine, South Australia–based customer support.
ROOO is based at Lot Fourteen on North Terrace. ROOO exemplifies innovation, but remains anchored in community values. The team launched its driver app in July, has onboarded more than 350 South Australian drivers, and is preparing the rider app launch later this month.
