The creation of the Aboriginal Art and Cultures Centre (AACC), at Lot Fourteen is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to establish a truly distinctive, and internationally renowned, cultural attraction with the potential to boost tourism for South Australia.
The Assistant Director, Program and Strategy is a new role in the organisation.
The AACC is supported with total funding of $200 million. The Australian Government has committed $85 million through the Adelaide City Deal, while the state government has committed $115 million to the centre, including an extra $50 million funding in the latest State Budget.
Designed to work closely with the collecting institutions the position will include the delivery of creative planning, programming, and curatorial strategy development to ensure that the AACC becomes a world-class cultural facility.
The AACC will be both contemporary and representative of more than 55,000 years of First Nations cultures across Australia.
The timing of this appointment is particularly significant as the successful candidate will work closely with the AACC design team to inform the detailed concept design and functionality to ensure it supports with the artistic vision for the new facility.
State Project Lead, Lot Fourteen Diane Dixon believes this role presents a unique opportunity to join the team at a crucial time.
“The role will be key to ensuring the vision of an extraordinary, immersive experience combining traditional storytelling with modern technology to deliver a major cultural tourist attractor, as the world learns more about the incredible story and unique cultures of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People,” Dixon said.
