Southern Launch, based in Adelaide, South Australia, offers infrastructure and operational support for orbital and suborbital rocket launches. We have two multi-user launch sites: The Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex and the Koonibba Test Range.

About the role

As the Range Operations Lead at Southern Launch, you’ll be responsible for overall ground operations at the launch facilities and the corresponding downrange areas and exclusion zones during launch campaigns. Responsibilities include:

• Develop and execute range safety plans for safe rocket launches.
• Plan, organise, and manage ground operations at launch facilities.
• Engage with State and Federal stakeholders to secure operational licenses.
• Provide oversight for safe and cost-effective launch campaigns, directing planning and resource allocation.
• Liaise with customers, stakeholders, and local authorities leading up to and during launch events.
• Lead and motivate employees to the highest operational standards.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, Quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
• Establish best practices and a continuous improvement approach for range operations.

About you

• Qualifications in a relevant field.
• Leadership experience in either military or emergency services situations.
• Operational experience in hazardous environments.
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changing operational circumstances.
• Strong communication and operational management skills.

This position requires you to hold and maintain a valid Australian Defence Security Clearance.
