Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping the world at an unprecedented pace, but ensuring it is ethical, inclusive, and equitable requires deliberate action.
The Next Generation Responsible AI Symposium is a seminal two-day event held from 1-2 December, 2025, in Adelaide, home to the Responsible AI Research (RAIR) Centre. It is hosted by CSIRO and the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) at the University of Adelaide and funded by the Australian Academy of Science through a Theo Murphy Initiative grant.
The event will feature engaging presentations and discussions on Responsible AI science and practical insights, offering valuable perspectives for both scientific and industry audiences. These will be complemented by interactive workshops on Diversity & Inclusion in AI and translating Responsible AI Principles into Practice. It will bring together Australia’s brightest Early- and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCRs) from various disciplines to promote cross-sectoral collaboration, drive thought leadership and initiate tangible solutions for Responsible AI.
This event is not just about discussion; it is a launchpad for ongoing research, engagement, and an optional post-event writing initiative that will translate innovative ideas into action. Our goal is to grow Australia’s responsible AI community and provide 2 days of engaging EMCR career development through workshops, discussions, and interactions with thought leaders in Responsible AI.
This event is tailored for EMCRs who are actively researching, developing, and implementing Responsible AI, as well as those interested in Responsible AI governance, policy, and ethical frameworks. It also welcomes policymakers, industry professionals, researchers, and members of the public who seek to shape Australia’s Responsible AI ecosystem. The event will be particularly valuable for individuals working at the intersection of AI, ethics, law, public policy, and social impact.
