Australian Space Discovery Centre

The Australian Space Discovery Centre is a place to inspire, educate and engage the next generation space workforce and Australian community. It includes a space exhibition area; industry area and a careers hub. It will feature a Mission Control Centre for space businesses and researchers to control satellites and space missions.

Innovation, curiosity and technology

The Australian Space Agency’s Australian Space Discovery Centre will inspire the Australian community with stories of innovation, curiosity and technology.

Opening in the first half of 2021, the Discovery Centre offers a place to meet and explore the latest innovations in space technologies and learn about Australia’s role in expanding national and international space activities. It will also feature a Mission Control Centre for space businesses and researchers to control satellites and space missions; viewable through the centre’s theatrette.

Facilities

The Australian Space Discovery Centre includes interactive exhibits, an industry area to connect business and researchers, plus a careers hub.

  • In the Space Gallery area, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in hands-on, interactive exhibits that share how space improves life on Earth and highlight Australia's part of this story.

  • In the Endeavour room, you’ll be able to directly engage with space industry businesses, start-ups and researchers through workshops, discussions and displays.

  • In the Careers and Information Hub, you’ll be able to learn about the Australian space sector and discover career paths and jobs in the national space industry.

  • In the visitor viewing area at the Mission Control Centre, you’ll be able to view screenings and live shows, and hear from guest speakers. Saber Astronautics will build and run the Mission Control Centre.

Inspiring the next generation

One of the key goals of the Australian Space Discovery Centre is to inspire our next generation to consider space careers in future, with a range of skills needed to support Australia’s growing space sector.
